PEBA Board Announces Agency’s New Executive Director
The Board of Directors of the South Carolina Public Employee Benefit Authority (PEBA) today announced its selection of the agency’s new executive director. After a national search that included consideration of more than 85 individuals, the Board voted unanimously to offer the position to Peggy G. Boykin, who has accepted the appointment. She will begin her duties in the new post on July 28.
PEBA Board chairman Art Bjontegard said after the meeting, “We are really excited to have someone of Peggy’s proven leadership, executive ability, and experience in pension and benefits issues come on Board with PEBA. Although we will miss her as a colleague on the Board, we know that she will be more valuable in this position. PEBA is still a relatively new agency, but one that is important directly and indirectly to everyone in South Carolina, with a very significant economic impact on our state.
“The many thousands of capable, hard-working individuals here in South Carolina who bring vital services to all of us every day deserve to have someone of Peggy’s capability working to make sure that the benefits they and their families depend on are properly managed and promptly, efficiently, and accurately provided. We are confident that Peggy will serve us all well.”
Mrs. Boykin brings to the position of executive director a wealth of experience, having worked with the South Carolina Retirement Systems for 20 years, most recently as director of that agency from 2002 until 2011; and she has been a member of the PEBA Board of Directors since the agency’s creation in 2012.
Mrs. Boykin, a native of South Carolina, is a graduate of the College of Charleston, where she is currently employed, and a certified public accountant.
Catamaran's Network Pharmacy Lists Now Available
Many retirees enrolled in the State Health Plan recently received a Catamaran network pharmacy list in their welcome packets. The list was an abridged list; Catamaran’s network is comparable to the Express Scripts network.
Most chain and independent pharmacies in South Carolina are members of Catamaran’s network. If a subscriber is not sure the pharmacy he uses is in the network, he can call the pharmacy, visit www.mycatamaranrx.com or search these complete lists of network pharmacies: S.C. Network Pharmacies, Nationwide Network Pharmacies (Alaska to Montana), and Nationwide Network Pharmacies (North Carolina to Wyoming). The pharmacies in the S.C. spreadsheet are listed in ZIP code order; the nationwide spreadsheets are islisted in alphabetical order.
Many independent pharmacies are also included in the Retail Maintenance Network, which allows members to fill a 90-day supply of their maintenance medications through a local pharmacy at mail order copays.
